Alcohol treatment necessarily means administering treatment thereby eliminating physical and psychological dependency on liquor (alcohol). In other words, we can say that alcohol treatment tends to get an alcohol-addicted person out of the addiction and its detrimental effects.
Alcohol treatment, like a drug rehab, tends to eliminate physical dependency by a process called alcohol detox in which the affected individual is prevented from consuming alcohol for long periods of time. This may result in some withdrawal effects on part of the person but it essentially leads to a much strong willed person ready to complete his further treatment. The next step is individual or group counseling in which the patient is assessed by psychotherapists to gauge the reasons of why he has become addicted to alcohol. The affected person is provided social support in which he is made to believe that in this tough time he is not alone. The alcohol treatment process is considered a success if the affected person can accomplish his daily routine without the consumption of alcohol.
It is very difficult to undermine how successful are these alcohol treatment. No data is available to depict the success rate of this alcohol treatment process. Previously the success rate was measured in the sense that whether the affected person has taken to alcohol in future after treatment. However now it is considered that if a person has tools to lead a livelier and happier post his treatment then the program of alcohol treatment is a success. It is said the longer the treatment programs the better is the person equipped to manage his alcoholism.
