Marijuana is one of the most commonly used abuse substance across the globally. It is also called cannabis. It is obtained from the Cannabis plant such as Cannabis sativa or Cannabis Indica from mountainous areas in India. The dried herbal form of the plant is used and supplied as drug. The plant is also grown throughout the world and has been used for recreational, spiritual, therapeutic and medicinal purposes. The resinous form of drug derived from the plant is called hasish (also known as hash).

Since the early 20th century, marijuana is considered as an illegal drug and most countries of the world have prohibited the drug. There are many pshychoactive chemicals present in the plant. The pshycoactive chemical called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) performs the same actions as that is done by the neurotransmitters in the brain and badly affects the normal functionality of the body.

Marijuana also contains a high level of a cancer causing agent called tar as compared to its level in tobacco. Addicts make use of marijuana by smoking it after mixing it with tobacco. Some addicts eat it raw or by adding it to the food. People who consume it with alcohol may develop vomiting sensation and giddiness.

The ill-effects of marijuana include light-headedness, hallucinations, delusions, loss of memory, inability to learn and think, loss of coordination, increase in heart rate, low blood pressure, anxiety, panic, fear, infection to the lungs, chronic chest illness and persistent cough.

As compared to cigarette smokers, addicts who intake marijuana smokes for longer periods can suffer from lung cancer because the smoked inhaled is four times stronger. Another cancer causing agent that is present in marijuana is polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). A research has shown that just by only consuming marijuana three times in a day can cause damage to the health that is equal to smoking twenty cigarettes.

We can help you find a marijuana drug rehab that will rehabilitate you so that you are no longer struggling from marijuana addiction.

Consumption of alcohol in large quantities can lead to various kinds of illness to heart, liver, kidney and nervous system in people across all ages and gender. If you are a pregnant woman, alcohol consumption can have profound effect on you and your unborn child. What happens is that when a mother consumes alcohol, the unborn child is also exposed to alcohol.

Exposure to alcohol can cause serious health complication to the fetus. Drinking alcohol during the first few weeks of pregnancy can turn to be very fatal to the fetus. Damage to the baby can be in the form of a physical problem, mental instability, behavioral problems, inability to learn, etc. Most of these complications can last throughout the life.

When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, the alcohol reaches the baby in the same level of concentration. In other words, if a pregnant woman remains drunk for couple of hours, the unborn baby will also remain intoxicated for three to four days.

The brain of the unborn baby is one of the organs that is most affected when the mother consumes alcohol. During pregnancy, the brain develops at a steady pace. So, if the mother drinks alcohol during pregnancy, it can cause severe damage to the baby’s brain and hamper its development.

A recent research has shown that over 2,000 new born babies every year suffer from effects that are caused due to prenatal alcohol exposure. Alcohol intake during pregnancy causes FASD. According to Wikipedia, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders describes a continuum of permanent birth defects caused by maternal consumption of alcohol during pregnancy, which includes, but is not limited to fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).

The risk of miscarriage is increased due to alcohol consumption. There is also risk of stillbirth and malformation to the vital organs of the baby such as the heart and brain. Hence, pregnant women should make every effort to control their need for drinking alcohol. This will help the mother and her unborn baby to remain healthy during pregnancy and post pregnancy.

Since decades, twelve-step program is considered to be one of the most effective tools in treating addictions such as drug addiction and alcohol addiction. The program was established by Alcoholics Anonymous during the 1930s.

Here are the points that are involved in the twelve-step program:

  1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.
  2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
  4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
  5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
  7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
  8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

The twelve-step program helps the addict in many ways like making him realize that he is going through substance addiction problem, how to become considerate and develop self-control, helping others in knowing and practicing the program, etc. The twelve-step program can be performed in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation centers. After recovering from the addiction through the twelve-step program, the patient becomes confident in facing the challenges of the life.

Recently, people are finding that the 12 steps are not that effective.  If you are looking for a non 12 step rehab that will help you overcome your addiction, than give us a call.

Those people who consume drugs to get temporary relief from stress or any other reason do not take the take up the consequences of drug abuse seriously even though they are well aware of it. Substance abuse has been one of the causes of death and the death count has been increasing in the recent past.

Two of the most commonly available drugs in our society include heroine (also known as opioids) and cocaine. Every year, throughout the world we hear news about cocaine and heroin trafficking through which we can understand how rampantly people are seeking for drugs.

The two drugs cocaine and heroin exercise their addictiveness via two different neurotransmitter systems that are located in the brain. That is why the medical treatment procedure that is used for treating cocaine and heroin addiction is quite different even though people are addicted equally to both of them.

Even though opium is related to drug addiction, it is now being used as a medicine to treat pain. It has shown significant results in treatment of polydrug abuse which mainly consists of cocaine and opiods. The drug named buprenorphine triggers and inactivates the areas on the nerve cells inside the brain where the opiates attach. It does a brilliant job in reducing the pain however; the risk of over dosage is less.

A recent study done by Granger Collection, New York. Clinical studies has shown that buprenorphine has successfully helped in treating addiction to heroin and is also believed to have benefits over methadone as it is safer. It was also found that buprenorphine also reduced addition to cocaine among those people who are addicted to cocaine and heroin.

Even though new medicines are being found to treat drug addiction, it is very important to advice an addict to join a drug rehab center to positively get rid of his addiction and lead a normal life free from substance abuse.

If you are on a road to recovery from addiction of substance abuse, and are soon planning to rejoin your work or look for a new job, the thought of getting your life back to normalcy seems promising. However, it may not be that easy as it sounds.

Here are some things that you need to keep in mind when you think you are fit enough to return to work after you are done with drug rehabilitation.

For A Recovering Addict Who Is Looking For a New Job

* If a recovering addict is not able to find a job, he should not feel disappointed and incorrectly assume job-related rejections as a way of the world rejecting him because of drug addiction past, negative records etc. This way he may lose his confidence and go into a relapse mode.

If you are in such a situation, do not worry; some day or the other you will get a new job if you are willing to put in sheer dedication, perseverance and commitment. Job-related problems are temporary. Having a positive mindset will surely help you walk this painful path with comfort. You should try to cover your negative points by grooming yourself well, dressing up well, using positive body language while walking or talking to people. You should be punctual when you are going for a job interview. Be yourself and forget the fact that you had any such addiction. Soon people will be talking good things about you and things will start working in your favor.

For A Recovering Addict Who Is Looking to Resume His Existing Job

* If a recovering addict is rejoining his existing job, he can face a special set of problems. He may feel or notice that his colleagues do not behave with him properly, gossip about him, look down upon him and even the chance of growing in the company may seem closed. Such fears can also lead the recovering addict to get back to his old habit.

If you are in such a situation, you should make yourself realize that you have left your habit which had affected your performance at work. Now that you have overcome your addiction, you can keep a goal of achieving progress at your work. Soon your colleagues will realize your value and behave normally with you.

Opiates:
Opium, heroin, codeine and morphine are drugs made from opium poppy. Along with certain synthetic drugs they are classified as narcotic drugs which relieve pain and produce a state of stupor. Heroin, the most dangerous, frequently abused opiate is dissolved in a liquid and injected into a vein. It depresses certain areas of brain so that incoming neural messages are dulled. The effect is one of relaxation, reduction of tension, and euphoria, and is referred to as high. The life expectancy of a heroin addict is shortened on an average 15 to 20 years. Sudden death from overdose is a constant threat, since the illegal heroin traffic does not guarantee uniform doses, and an unusually pure or large dose can be fatal.

Hallucinogens:
Such as LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide), mescaline, and psilocybin cause the user to see, imagine and hear things in an exaggerated and abnormal manner; thus they often are describe as mind expanding drugs. Mescaline is made from the peyote cactus; psilocybin is derived from Mexican mushroom. LSD is synthetic chemical.

LSD and other hallucinogens are thought to enhance the activity of nor epinephrine and dopamine while inhibiting the depressing effects of serotonin. An average dose of LSD causes dizziness, nausea, drowsiness and blurring of vision. Familiar objects appear to take on new features. Shapes change, and he may even have mystic experiences. Suicides have resulted from perceptual distortions which convince the user that he can fly out of a high window to perform some equally impossible feat.

Marijuana:
It is made of chopped leaves, flowers and stems of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa and contains only a small amount of the active ingredients-THC (Tetra hydrocannabinol). The hemp plant has been cultivated for centuries in many parts of the world for the tough fiber obtained from its stem, and for its psychoactive properties. Hashish, made from the resin secreted by the flowering tops of female hemp plant, is a much stronger drug. Marijuana appears to be relatively mild intoxicant and is thought to act upon serotonin as well as nor epinephrine pathways. In low doses marijuana produces feeling similar to those of mild alcohol intoxication. In large doses it interferes with performances of tasks involving short term memory, and there is some evidence that it impairs driving ability. With large doses of marijuana, users experience hallucinations.

Remember, finding an opiate detox can help you overcome your addiction.

The treatments offered by most of specialists are almost the same. For the treatment, one may be required to stay in the hospital or if the situation is not worse then, they may get treated at residence under supervision of a sober individual. So, while choosing any drug rehab centre, select the one that caters to the patient’s needs too. Measure the cost of treatment and calculate one that is affordable. This is essential so that one may choose the cost that is being covered by his/her health insurance.

One must also check for the license and the recognition of the centre. In case, one is unable to collect this information, they may take the help from Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator. This will give the person all the details about address, contact number and other descriptions along with the map.

All kinds of drugs have become very popular among young teens and all the way through to adults. There are so many different kinds of drugs that people use and take its ridiculous.
There are many different reasons why people start to get addicted to drugs. One reason is that they are told by someone else to just try it once, that doing it once won’t hurt. This is a lie. If you try a drug once, you will then also think it is okay to do it twice and then soon enough you will start to think that its fine to do it in general. The next thing you know is that you are now hooked on drugs. Another reason people get addicted to drugs is that they are very stressed and they want something that will help them get through their day, or something to make them not feel the pain. There are more reasons that people do drugs, but those were just a couple of them that are common.

Drug Intervention

All throughout the country there are drug detox centers. A drug detox center is a place that is made for drug addicts to get off of drugs and to get their bodies back into a good physical condition. At a drug detox center an addict stops using drugs and gets his body healthy again, since the drugs do a lot of harm to the body inside and out. Detox centers are very important in getting the addict off of drugs. It is very hard for an addict to stop taking drugs on his own. Detox centers make it a lot easier for the addict and they are an environment that is stress free.

When people are addicted to drugs they need other people to help them get their lives back. Friends or family need to do a drug intervention. A drug intervention is when you have an addict who can’t stop himself from using drugs so someone else, like a friend, a family member or someone else intervenes and gets the addict some help. Drug addiction intervention is something that needs to get done. There are so many drug addicts out there that just need help. They have gone beyond the point of helping themselves. Sometimes a drug addict has gone so far off the rails that he won’t accept your help. If you really care about the addict you just have to be persist and keep helping and encouraging the addict to go to a detox center.

Detox centers are very important for an addict to stop doing drugs and to get his body clean. But another very important step in getting a drug addict totally off drugs is, handling what caused him to do drugs in the first place. For some addicts, its that they were too stressed and for others its because they didn’t like their life and wanted something to keep it light and not so overwhelming. There are many different reasons people start using and becoming addicted to drugs. When trying to help an addict stop using drugs and get clean one has to also help the addict figure out how to overcome problems in life without the use of drugs. One has to really make sure that the addict now sees that drugs aren’t the solution and that handling the problems makes more sense than running from them.

Drug intervention is something that needs to get done. Drugs and drug addicts put many peoples’ lives at stake. One step to making this world a better and happier place is by getting rid of drugs and by helping drug addicts get their lives back.

Bad effects from using alcohol include, not remembering conversations or commitments, blacking out, having health problems or getting injuries, losing interest in activities that you were formerly interested in, having legal problems, relationship issues and finance situations. These are just some of the most common bad effects; there are many more things that can happen from drinking excess amounts of alcohol.

Lets go into more detail of what the bad effects really cause in a person’s life. For example lets use the name Joe, Joe is a married man in his late thirties he has two kids, a nice house and his most treasured item is his yellow Porsche. Joe works at a construction company; he is part owner of the company. Joe starts having some trouble at work with his co-partner about new building sites, he starts getting really stressed out and starts going to bars at night and drinking the night away. Alcoholic drink after alcoholic drink. This starts to become his habit. Everyday after work he now goes to the bar and just drinks, drinks, drinks. He starts avoiding his wife and starting little fights with her. His kids ask him to come to their football game and he yells at them and says that he has more important things to do. He is now really starting to mess up his life. His job is going bad, he is missing making payments on the house, since he is using so much money for alcohol, his wife is completely upset with him and to top it off he crashed his Porsche into a brick building because he was driving while drunk. Joe is now completely addicted to alcohol and just spends his days fighting with his partner and his night drinking his sorrows away. Little does he know that the drinking is what made his life so miserable in the first place. But if you ask Joe, he will tell you that the reason he drinks is because his business partner is unfair and that life is just unfair and sucks. What Joe needs is alcohol treatment. He needs help. He needs to realize that drinking is what got him into the huge mess that he is now in.

Treatment programs are there for alcoholics to get sober and back onto track. Alcoholic treatment is what can get an alcoholic sober and for the alcoholic to stay sober. Sometimes drug intervention is necessary in order to start a drug detox.

Some people may think that if they are addicted to alcohol that they aren’t addicted to drugs so it’s fine. But the truth is that alcohol is a kind of drug. The first step in rising over alcohol addiction is realizing that you need to change something and that you want to cure this addiction that you have to alcohol.

Alcohol addiction can be handled in different ways. Some people realize that they have an addiction and on their own they stop drinking and just decide to not drink anymore. This method works but it isn’t necessarily the easiest. One method to cure alcohol addiction, that is very common, is getting alcohol addiction treatment. There are all sorts of establishments and programs that help with alcoholism treatment.

Alcohol Addiction

Part of the thing that is done at an alcohol addiction treatment center is alcohol detox. Alcohol detox is where the alcohol is removed from the patient’s body. It is removed by abstinence from alcohol, changing your diet and other things.

Rising over alcohol addiction is not an easy thing to do. It is actually very hard for people who are addicted to alcohol to get sober and stay sober. Since alcohol addiction is a tough thing to handle, alcohol addiction treatment centers are a good idea. These centers are good because it puts the addict into a safe and calm environment where there is also no way of getting alcohol.

If an addict decides to fight the addiction at home, it might be harder since there might be things in the environment that are pressuring or hard for him to bear, so he will be inclined to drink again. Also there might still be alcohol in his house so the alcohol being there will be tempting and he might just start drinking again.

Treatment centers are a good way for the addict to get some space and have a change of pace. Work, family and life in general can be very overwhelming and drinking might be the addict’s only solution to rising above everything. But drinking just makes things worse in the long–run. These alcohol treatment centers give the addict some peace and quiet and are a good environment for getting and staying sober.

One problem that alcohol addicts have is that they lose hope in being able to ever get and stay sober. They have sunk so far down into their alcohol addiction, that they don’t have any faith in changing. They think that for the rest of their lives they will be addicted to alcohol and that they will be miserable. But the truth is, that this is something that can be done against alcohol addiction. It is not too late.

An important thing in alcoholism treatment is having people around that are going to be supportive and helpful. People that wont lead the alcohol addict to drink again. Family and friends need to be supportive of the addict and need to help him change. It is hard for a hardcore alcohol addict to change on his own. He needs as much support and encouragement as he can get.

People who are addicted to alcohol are not happy people. They are struggling with all kinds of problems and just need help. They need people to look out for them and people that will get them back onto the right track.

If you are an alcohol addict yourself, or if you are just trying to help out someone who is an addict, either way just remember that there is hope. Don’t give up.
